BBQ & Boogie at the Park!

October 1, 2011 noon to 3:00
Same day as Roe Jan Park’s Harvest Family Festival

TICKETS: Available at the library and elsewhere locally (see below) or online HERE

It’s time again for the annual Roeliff Jansen Community Library BBQ at the Roe Jan Park. Bring your family and friends and come enjoy barbecue by Kenny Preusser and toe- tapping music by The Marty Jimmons Trio.

The BBQ will be served from noon till 3:30 pm. On the menu is pulled pork and barbecued chicken, coleslaw, potato salad and vegetables. (We hope to have corn on the cob but that depends how this year’s crop is!) Dessert will be brownies made by great cooks who are library supporters and Stewart’s chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Lots of seating will be available in the shade of the shed barn or you can bring lawn chairs and blankets to spread out on the lawn and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the park.

The Marty Jimmons Trio will be back to play bluegrass, old time and traditional country music for your listening and dancing pleasure. The kids can play on the swings and other equipment in the park playground or maybe go wading in the Roe Jan Kill.

This year the BBQ is the same day as Elinor’s Walk to Support the Library, a 5 K Walkathon raising money to support the library. Most of the route of the Walkathon is on the Walking Trails of the Roe Jan Park and the finish is right by the barn where the BBQ takes place. Walkers who raise at least $200 in pledges get a free ticket to the BBQ.

Tickets, $20 for adults and $10 for kids, are available at the Library, B&G Wine in Hillsdale; the Copake Pharmacy; the Firehouse Deli in Ancram and from members of the library Board of Trustees. Tickets are also available online HERE and will be available at the door.

The Roeliff Jansen Park is at 9140 Rt. 22, just across the road from the library.

Proceeds from the BBQ and the Walkathon will be used to enhance and support the library’s programs, collection and building.
