Q: Why can't you use the Roe Jan School?

A.: We were intrigued by the Roe Jan School.  If  the town of Copake or some other organization had purchased the building for a senior center, retirement home, community center or some other use, and invited the library to be part of the project, it would have been seriously considered.  For the library alone to pursue the purchase and maintenance of a 90,000 square foot building which needs a new roof and heating system to begin with was unrealistic .  We did however consider the bus garage as a potential space but the owner was not interested in selling.
