How to Request and Reserve Materials
Your library isn’t just that new building on Route 22. You can easily request materials from any of the 66 libraries in the Mid-Hudson System. If you don’t see what you want in our catalog which all 66 libraries share, don’t despair! Contact the library for additional help.
Our “Holds” System is Easy
Circulation desk staff and volunteers can help you to locate and request materials. Patrons can also peruse and request titles from home using the online library catalog. Depending on how you access the catalog, at some point you will be asked to enter your library card barcode number and pin number (if you don’t have a pin number, just enter one and it will be created for you). Search “All Libraries”. When you have located an item you want, click on the green “Request A Title” button above the search box. Select “Pickup Location” as Hillsdale (our legacy location). You will be notified by email or telephone when a hold item is available for pick-up at the circulation desk. Items must be picked up within one week. Most items arrive within a few days. If the item is not available at present, you will be put on the waiting list.
Inter-Library Loan (ILL)
We welcome Inter-library loan requests and will try to obtain books not available in our system. Inter-library loan books may not be renewed and must be returned promptly when due if you wish to retain your borrowing privileges. A fee may be charged for this service.
