BRISTOL - in Hillsdale, June 10, 1918, Flavia M. Bristol

Miss Flavia M. Bristol died at her home in this village on Monday morning of this week, after a lingering illness.  Miss Bristol had only been confined to the house for the past few days, although she had been in failing health for a number of years.

Flavia M. Bristol was born in Hillsdale on June 26, 1824, and had always lived here.  She was the daughter of the late Stephen Bristol and was the last of a family of four children.  Miss Bristol was one of the oldest residents of the village and was one of its firmest friends, always giving generously to all religious and social benefits.  A few years ago her gifts made it possible for the M. E. Church edifice to be entirely renovated and numerous repairs made.  She has also made numerous repairs and gifts of furnishings to the parsonage.  Any town improvements always met her ready approval and she backed it up with financial support.  She was a devout Christian, a member of the M. E. Church and a regular attendant when her health permitted.  Up until the last few years she always spent her winters at her winter home in Rock Ledge, Florida.  Since her failing health she has not been able to go and she disposed of this property.

Miss Bristol left no near relatives, the nearest being a cousins, Miss Abbie B. Sherman of New Haven, Connecticut.  She has left numerous nieces and nephews who reside in different parts of the United States, some being as far west as Kansas.

The funeral was held from her late residence on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. J. A. Brimelow, pastor of the M. E. Church, officiating.  The interment took place in the Bristol plot in the rural cemetery.
