The Mid-Hudson Library System (MHLS) is one of twenty-three independently chartered public library systems in the State of New York.  Mid-Hudson brings automation, education, consultation and delivery services to 71 public libraries and seven correctional facilities, which are scattered across the 3,000 mile, five county region of Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Putnam and Ulster counties.

Mid-Hudson's headquarters are located in Poughkeepsie and adjacent to the Adriance Memorial Library - its Central Library.

The 71 libraries (65 libraries, 6 branches) of the Mid-Hudson Library System directly serve a population of approximately 583,000.  MHLS, through its member libraries, circulates selected print and audio-visual materials, at no charge and provides information through electronic resource-sharing.  The System has a full-time staff of 23, including a professional management team of 5 working with an executive director, and a part-time staff of 24.
